VR + Eye Tracking

Immersive technologies like VR can immediately transport individuals to another place and time. Now these technologies have the capability of providing real-time biometric sensing capabilities like eye tracking. These additional capabilities allow us to better understand real world cognitive processing like spatial awareness, visual processing, and even emotional states.

I created a training and evaluation tool for football quarterbacks in Unity, using 360 videos and VR eye tracking capability. I can extract the eye tracking data and make determinations about when and where a quarterback is looking throughout a given play, a skill critical to their success. Using machine learning techniques I developed, I can automatically find out what part of the field their gaze is fixated and for how long so that coaches and evaluators can better understand a quarterback's cognitive processing without having to play an actual game

With enough data over time, we should be able to derive new metrics that allow us to identify key physiological signals and movements that predict cognitive capability and performance that are critical for a quarterback's success.
